Intelligent shelves and clothing racks
Nedap's intelligent shelves and clothing racks automatically register the stock. Items are read at 200 pcs/s. If, for example, only two pairs of trousers are hanging on the rack, the system sends this information to the sales staff in the store, who can then re-stock the rack, and to the retail suppliers, who can start a replenishment order. Thus, it is guaranteed that the customer will always find the product he is looking for. The Nedap technology also offers an additional service. For instance, when a customer takes a shirt from a shelf, information about the product automatically appears on a screen. The system can also recommend other clothes that could be combined with the shirt.
The intelligent stands and shelves offer another crucial advantage for retailers: inventory at the push of a button. Only a special reading device is necessary, which Nedap also offers. With it, employees can see how much of the product is still available and where it is currently located at any time. Since the system is Internet-based, maintenance is very simple: the web based special services platform, EASi/Net, has already been available to retail companies worldwide for several years. It ensures that Nedap can monitor and solve problems any time, anywhere. Through EASi/Net, Nedap also offers unique real time multi-store management information, such as customer counting data, system uptime, staff response to alarms, tagging and deactivation / detaching.
No queues at the Check out
With the help of Nedap's RFID systems, payment procedures can be substantially more efficient. If the customer buys several items, for example, the information on all labels is read in a single step at the checkout. The RFID tags can be integrated into the price tag, which is usually applied by the manufacturer.
Alternatively, retailers may choose to apply re-usable tags. This option enables writing the appropriate electronic product code in the labels multiple times. This economical solution allows retailers to implement RFID in a shorter timeframe and use the existing infrastructure for Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS).
Flexible systems
Both with one-way and re-usable labels, Nedap can combine RFID technology with an Electronic Article Surveillance system (EAS), based on RF- and even AM-technology. Existing RF or AM EAS systems can be used. When customers leave the store, the conventional EAS antennas automatically detect whether the tag has been deactivated or removed.
Nedap has successfully tested its technologies in practice, for example, during a pilot project in Metro Group's department store, Kaufhof. Nedap does not only present visions in the Innovation Center, but specifically show solutions that retailers will soon be using.
